The Masterclass

Three expressions, start to finish.

Most people's tequila education stopped at a shot and a lime wedge. A masterclass rebuilds it from the plant up.

Guests taste through the three classic expressions, and Randy walks the room through what changes between them and why. The seven years an agave spends in the ground. The difference a brick oven makes against an industrial diffuser. The families and towns in Jalisco that have made this the same way for generations.

It's educational and it's a party. People leave able to read a label, ask a bartender a better question, and taste the difference between tequila made with patience and tequila made in a hurry.

01

Blanco

The first expression to come off the still. Unaged, and the clearest look you will get at what the agave and the distiller actually did.

02

Reposado

"Rested." Two months to a year in oak. Enough barrel to round the edges, not enough to hide anything.

03

Añejo

One to three years in oak. Darker, slower, and the one that changes most people's mind about what tequila is.

Your Host

Randy Serrano

Randy came to tequila through journalism. He spent his career as a bilingual correspondent telling stories on camera in two languages. Now he tells them with a glass in his hand, and the story is agave.

The credentials came after the curiosity. He holds a Técnico Tequilero diploma from the Universidad Autónoma de Guadalajara, a program developed alongside Mexico's own tequila regulatory council, and he is certified through the International Tequila Academy's top tier of sommelier training. Few people working in the United States hold both.

His tastings focus on small, independent producers. Many of the bottles that end up in front of your guests have no U.S. distributor and no sales rep attached to them. They come from relationships Randy built standing on distillery floors in Jalisco, and they are the reason his tastings do not feel like anyone else's.

He has held events at embassies, restaurants, corporate offices, and private homes across Washington and the East Coast.

"I don't work for a tequila brand. I work for the room I'm standing in and the guest holding the glass."
